Worth it just for Men Smart Women Smarter and CC Rider alone. Happy, happy, happy. Also one of the great China/Riders. And Althea They’re loose and fun. I never compared anything in the 80s with 77 or 74, but this 1982 is as good as any in the 70s

This was my first Grateful Dead show. A cloudy day after having rained quite a bit. A guy climbed all the way up to the pavillion roof and after holding on to a beam for quite a while and kicking his foot to the rhythm, he let go and fell a good 30 feet or so. I guess he didn't die. Another guy told me he was "just walking his dog" but didn't have a dog anywhere to be seen. The Dead shows were great for people watching for sure. And the Dead surely jammed well that day.

This was my first Dead show and it was a great performance. Of note are the openers: Music Never Stopped>Sugaree> Music Never Stopped. In the second set the Playing in the Band>Drums>Space>The Wheel are amazing. The drummers played through most of space. To this day, this is one of my favorite versions of playing in the band. The only slight problem is the sound quality. It is still pretty good. It sounds like the master recording was on cassette. As this is Dick’s Picks, this is to be expected.

Several reviewers complained that the final tracks of the album were corrupted and unlistenable. In the case of Morning Dew that would have been a shame since it is sublime in this version. Download without fear! Whatever problems it once had, they are gone now and it plays great. However, the sound of the concert is not pristine, the soundboard is not flawless. But the show itself is stellar, Jerry's playing spectacular, and all around you can tell the band was on tonight. If you have doubts about 80's dead, they might be dispelled by a concentrated earfull of August 7, 1982. Other standouts are Let It Grow, China Cat->Rider and the Wheel.

5 stars for the album, but don't buy this on iTunes...tracks 22 and 23 are inaudible and skip the entire time. I told iTunes about this, but they did nothing
