This was the very first album for anybody who played guitar and wanted to be incredible at their craft. Hearing this album made everybody practice five hours more per day. There was nothing like it at the time and it’s still stands the test of time decades later. You can listen to this for the first time or for the 500th time and get the same results

A gold standard for instrumental rock music. Every composition shimmers...nuanced and singable melodies transmitted through a surprisingly organic array of electric guitar tones (much of the late-80's best music is marred, rather than enhanced, by the era's emerging digital technology).
Uncommonly masterful and mature playing from the post-Van Halen era, a time when much rock guitar playing, while elevated in terms of chops, often sounded more like showboating rather than the expression of musical ideas.
