Stale and Empty

I've always been a Satriani fan. He's known for his delightful sense of melody: depth of song writing: impeccable technical skills, and for being one hell of a groove master. This album unfortunately is severely lacking on all fronts. Stale and Empty! A very thin project.
Sounds like a corporate motivational soundtrack

There are two enjoyable songs on this album: A Celebration and Can't Go Back. The rest is forgettable and skippable. There are none of Satriani's signature shreds on the entire album.

This side of Joe is something. The songs is basically telling a story. And the vibes from it is just amazing. Any guitar player that put a bad review really doesn't know what music really is.lol
Truly Unstoppable Talent I might add

I too love Satch. I have to be honest and say the last CD of his that grabbed me was Colossal. And only half of the songs on that CD really stood out to me. But I think he’s back to form on this one! I can listen to the CD from front to back again and again and it is seamless. These are great, melodic compositions that simply have the guitar sing in place of human vocals. We know Joe can shred. He’s done that, been there. But this CD has songs that move me and incite all kinds of emotional responses. And yes, Vinnie rocks! This does not take away anything from Jeff. I think Jeff is the perfect drummer for Joe. But having Vinnie come on board to change things up a bit really worked.
Still a boss!

Having followed nearly all albums in their entirety, I can say this one has done nothing if it hasn't added another fantastic album to the already expansive and impressive lineage/legend that is Satchmo.
New songs, ever-impressive riffs, wild and insane sounds & tones, even the accompaniment has moved forward and evolved with Satriani's continuing success.
What else could you expect from the God of Tone?!?!
Call me biased, tell me I'm wrong, heck, you can even say I'm an imbecile!!! I'd be fine as a self-approving incorrect idiot with this album in my possession. :)
This 15-year guitar vet/U.S. Sailor has a dream of playing this well or better. As long as I could take my Joe tapes, CDs and playlists with me on a tour bus... I'd be HAPPEH!
Rock on, Joe! ROCK THE FRICK ON!!!
