I bought his album at Goodwill for $2.49. A bit heavy on synthetic sound in the first half, but the last six songs make up for it. As a rock and metal fan, my favorites are "Hordes of Locusts" and "Driving at Night."

I'm a young guitarist, probably been playing for about... 3 years. I want to learn how to do this. I'm considering mowing the lawn for a couple bucks to pay for this album...
  • A note to the non-quitarists out there.

A lot of the synthesizer-like sounds you hear on Joe's albums he makes not with synthesizers, but with his guitar, some effects pedals, and his alienesque guitar skills. Basically, Joe is a synthesizer...
  • The best guitar album ever?

Every track on here is memorable, the playing is masterful, and the production has a sheen that really compels you to listen. Many say that Surfing With the Alien is his best, but this is it! I don't care for his newer stuff, but this is all you really need anyway.
  • hahaha indeed

What is "the gore-gore talking about "cheesy 80's/90's synthesizers"? None used on this album. The guitars sure do sound cool tho. You can see that Joe has everything already in place style wise. It's a cool cd for any fan
  • hahahah so old

i love joe satriani, but u gotta admit... this sounds a bit cheesey with the 80's\90's synthesyser and the wierd drum beats im sure it was good for its time but if ur gonna get joe satriani, don't get this i got this at a used record store for 2$ which is aprox. what it's worth
