This release is very diverse and ecletic. This is one of those Satch albums that took me a few listens to get accustomed to, but wow, it has quickly become one of my favorites. If you're looking for something hard from Joe, this isn't it, but if you're the kind of fan that appreciates his different sounds, then you'll love this. I own all of his albums and I can appreciate this one just as much as any of his harder albums. An album like this just proves how broad ranging Joe is with his talent.

Wow! Been a fan of Joe from day 1. This album is so layered, very deep, soul searching , and clean. Joe out did himself with so many different sounds. Love this album thru out.

Always been a Joe fan. I am however saying this out of sadness.
Joe seems to have lost his song writing mojo. His guitar work is still very stellar, but his song writing mojo has been lost. I have not been impressed with has last few releases.
I will stick with listening to his older albums.

I just can't stop listening to this. The most diverse Satch collection to date. So many different cool songs and even more personable when you hear the back stories. I love it. Jamaica Joe!

Joe's latest album 'Shapeshifting' really brings a lot of fantastic great typical Satriani guitar sounds and rythms to the Satriani fan. Not only that - but the drummer, Kenny Aronoff, is really adding a lot of great details in his drum work, on this album - in particlar "Perfect dust" and "Falling Stars". The album contains a great variaity in tempo as well - especially the reagge style "here the blue river". Either way - a great great Satriani album!
