Crack the Skye is one of the best albums I've ever heard. It has become an important part of me because I have been going through a rough time in my life. Listening to Crack the Skye helped me get through it. Thank you, Mastodon!

This album best represent its Element from start to finish. It's easy to except and to breath, there'll be part of these songs that's so intense that leave you gasping for air. Smooth and wild

Rasputin, Space Ships, Czar and Czarina, what more do you need? Get some Taco Bell , put on your headphones and escape into a world of METAL. These guys are the future of METAL.

I am a Metal fan. Always have been for years. About 3 years ago I discovered Mastodon and was transported beyond music, categories, and genres. I have NEVER heard music such as their story of ancient human evolution. I had the honor of seeing Mastodon live at the Roseland Theater, Portland, OR, on their Crake The Skye Tour. I think I shat my pants halfway through "The Last Baron". When they riffed out Capillarian Crest, and then, March of the Fire Ants, the stage turned RED, and I forgot who I was. Need I say more. Don't Stay. Run Away.

The only album I would buy twice if something happened to it. Only rated 4 because The Last Baron is album only! Holy mother of god, that song is amazing

the only songs i really like on this were oblivion and divinations. i really like the insturmentals in the deluxe version though. They would be great in a movie or in the sound track of a movie.
  • Haven't liked Metal since the Metallica (Black) Album, 1991, I believe?

But I might very well be back if bands are making music like this. Creative, dark, entertaining and impressive all around. It's like if Metallica, Alice in Chains and Black Sabbath got together and figured out how to make it all work.

This is their masterpiece. Metallica has Master of Puppets, AC/DC has Back In Black, and Mastodon has Crack the Skye.
