Linkin Park: A Thousand Suns

I do not understand all of the hate coming to this album just because Linkin Park is not making the "anger songs" so to say. If you ask me, I believe this is Linkin Park's best so far, followed by Living Things. The album has a deeper meaning to it: love and nuclear warfare. The album begins with mysterious noises and a woman (Mike using vocal effects just for those wondering) saying, "God save us, everyone. Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns for the sins of our hand, sins of our tongue, the sins of our father, the sins of our young?" which is later heard in "The Catalyst." Then it fades into a speech from J.R. Oppenheimer referencing to the atomic bomb. After Oppenheimer is finished, the album gives its first song, "Burning in the Skies," which fades into the sound of warfare. Then, Mike comes at us with a rap in "When They Come for Me." After they come for us, "Robot Boy" talks about selfish people who are "not gonna fight cause no one will fight for you." An intermission, "Jornada del Muerto", fades into one of my personal favorite LP songs, "Waiting For the End." "Blackout" brings back Chester's famous screams and shreaks. "Wretches and Kings" features another rap from Mike with a speech from Mario Savio. "Wisdom, Justice, and Love" contains words of, of course, wisdom, justice, and love from Martin Luther King, Jr. When MLKJ fades away, "Iridescent", another one of my personal favorites, comes in talking about desperation. "Fallout" makes a reference back to "Burning in the Skies" while connecting "Iridescent" and the climax of the album, "The Catalyst." This song brings this album to its height, followed by the ending, "The Messenger," which concludes the album by saying, "When life leaves us blind, love keeps us kind." If you have the deluxe version, "Blackbirds" is an awesome track, although it is not connected to the album's main point. Also, for the deluxe owners, the music videos for "The Catalyst" and "Waiting for the End" add to the awesomeness of the album. "A Thousand Suns" is by far the best album Linkin Park has brought to us, and it is definitely under-appreciated. This album deserves 5 stars all the way! Keep up the good work guys! I expect great things to come from you all for a long time no matter what all of the haters say!
