Jody Watley's Spontaneous Soul!

In the spirit of the essence tapped on vintage Jody Watley albums like "Intimacy" and "Flower", "Candlelight" is a slow-burning R&B groove that fully engages Watley's sultry vocals. The Aris Kokou Dub keeps the progressive dance groove -- also a Watley staple -- in full focus. A must for dance and soul fans!

I have been a fan from the start, and Jody still has it. Too bad this music is not played on the radio...it is a nice break from the mindless daily radio rotation. Great job Jody!!

I'm guessing there are more mixes to come, or Ms. Watley is simply taking an another unexpected turn and turning down the remix notch. Overall, the package has her usual solid quality written all over it. The Aris Kokou edit adds a bit more electronica to the classic soul feeling, to make it feel a bit more progressive. The dub recalls her work with Masters at Work.
I remember buying albums for the artwork, so I appreciate the addition of the lyrics and art. No doubt, she keeps us guessing.
The accapellas are a nice surprise, sort of like what Radiohead did allowing DJ's to create their own mixes. Kudos. iTunes never puts her releases on the home page, which is a mystery, but I keep up on her releases via her network pages. Looking forward to more. Another quality release.
