The "live" songs are not "live" recordings. They are re-recorded with the original lineup for this cd. Let me tell you, they sound fresh & full of energy. I almost prefer this version of "Metal Health" to the 1983 original. New tunes are not bad. The "sound" on this disc is crisp, clear and loud. LOVE IT!!!!!

I Don't Know What Happened

Well, to attempt to get things straight, Alive and Well was actually released in 1999. iTunes had this album before, but it had a different album cover. Now, they took the old one off and replaced it with this one. I don't fully understand what happended. The old one had many reviews, too.(I even wrote one) Highway to Hell is better by AC/DC, but Quiet Riot's is a billion times better than some of those nasty tribute bands.
Irony.

A solid outing from one of the great 80's rock bands. For those who are interested in how the band prevailed after the onset of grunge, check this album out. Their best album after their heyday was probably "Terrified," but this one also provides some great updates to their song list from the two of the greatest rock albums of the 80's - Metal Health and Condition Critical. Although their post-success era albums are inconsistent, I recommend this one to anyone who enjoyed QR and wants to hear a more mature sound from them (minus "Slam Dunk," perhaps their worst song ever). "The Ritual" is my favorite here - an intense, grinding metal song reminiscent of the title song from Condition Critical or "Psycho City" from the aforementioned Terrified album.

Highway to Hell sounds almost like AC/DC which is pretty amazing. Also the whole album jsut rocks. Of course Bang your head is probably the best.
