  • Phil Sounds Great

Don’t listen to all the negative reviews from 8 years ago. This album is wonderful and he sounds great here. He is currently touring again as of 2018 and is even working on a new album, and i’m sure all his REAL fans will be happy to here it. I highly recommend you buy this album because if you love his music, you will definitely like this. P.S. I am of the newer generation and am so glad I was introduced to his music through Tarzan and than have discovered all his albums. Buy this!!

Sigh, I love you Phil but seriously... Why do people such as Phil and Seal who have SO much talent insist on reverting back and singing (granted classic) older songs instead of new material. We love you Phil but we want to hear your words and lyrics again, not someone elses.
  • An Elder Statesman of Music

PC has earned the right to record anything he wants, with anyone he chooses, and throughout the years, he has gained enough of my respect that I'll give a listen to anything he does. I'm a bit younger than Phil, but, still grew up listening to the same Motown Hits he did (which was quite a thing to pull of when the rest of your friends are listening to Lynard Skynard and ZZ Top and Aerosmith and the like...try explaining "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway to those types)... anyway- the man cannot do wrong musically, and these numbers come from his heart, as all music should. If you have Comcast on Demand, there is a "Making of" piece available that shines a light on the album that makes it clear that this is truly a labor of love from all involved. If you are a true fan of Motown or PC, you'll not be disappointed!
  • Great Versions of Classics

Love these versions of great Motown classics. Phil was careful to replicate, not duplicate the originals down to the same phrasing, chords and fills. It's as if the originals have been re-mastered. refreshed and given an infusion of new energy. Particularly like "Something About You". Motown is back in my collection.

Having just watched the Smithsonian special and then downloading the bonus album, I have to say I LOVE this. All of us who came of age in the early to mid 60's will be transported back. For me, that was a good thing. This is great!

already at sixty years of age phil collins should bag singing in favor of writing and arranging. people shouldn't really fret, he's 60, if you want to hear more 80's icons singing in their golden years look at Blondie and Rush, great music poor vocals, it comes with age. as for the album he simply is paying the respect to the music that inspired him, if these songs truly hook you, check out the temptations (paul williams was highly under rated and was deferred to ruffin, if you hear his version of 'don't look back you will find a awesome vocalist), stick to the originals for your money's worth if disposable income is your bracket, hit buy @ 18.00

Having grown up with the motown sound I like the fact Phil went back to his roots. I have enjoyed all of Phil's music over the years. He a true artist and his arrangements on Going Back are really good. Thanks, Phil Collins.
  • Another bad Phil Collins record

How Phil can be so incredible with Genesis and so pathetic as a solo artist is beyond comprehension. He wrote, or at least co-wrote many of those Genesis songs didn't he? There are some exceptions to his pathetic solo career such as "In The Air Tonight", I Don't Care Anymore", and possibly "I Wish It Would Rain Down", but the vast majority is watered down pop crap. "Come on, Phil...you've got one of the best voices and drums in the music business. Give us something to sink our teeth into!". By the way, I want my money back for the terrible concert you put on at the Fleet Center in 1997. I expected some depth in the music. I had to put up with three gay guys dancing to Sususudio right in front of me. Do us all a favor, get back with Genesis or retire.
