Something for everyone

Although this 1981 release didn’t receive a lot of attention, this is probably my favorite of Elton’s 80s releases. There’s a variety of styles here - rock (Breaking Down Barriers; Heart In The Right Place), upbeat pop (Heals Of The Wind, Nobody Wins), and an instrumental suite (Carla/Etude-Fanfare). Elton touches on the personal for the first time with “Elton’s Song”, and turns in two really good ballads, “Chloe” and “The Fox”. This is a really enjoyable album.
