Bought this because my sister sings "Mama Roux" all the time. Reminds me of gumbo and crawfish boils!

I'm with the first guy in that I too have been looking for this a long time. Got back from Nam the first time and was doing stuff. This was one of those albums that would put yoiu in a very Trippy state. It's classic. Get it! Listen to it! A must have for a truly rounded out library. G

This sounded like it came from an alternate universe when I first heard it in the 70s. But it was great then and great now. Splinters, Gumbo and Mama Roux are the best.
the most solid album

This is an interesting album in a unique niche. I must say, however, that the very best version of "Walk on Guilded Splinters" is by Johnny Jenkins with Duane Allman on guitar. It's pretty rare album, sadly outside iTunes' range.

It took an English guy's (Paul Weller) cover "Walk On Gilded Splinters" to hip me to Dr. John (Cher's early 70's version ain't bad eother..hey stop laughing back there, I'm serious). But I'm glad that for once iTunes has their collective you know what together to offer this classic LP, gris gris gumbo ya ya Pere Malfait!
An amazing first album...
