  • An Absolute Must Have in EVERYONE'S Collection

If you have so much as a single, solitary thread of musical taste about you, this CD (Album as I was raised it to be), HAS to be among your first owns. It epitomizes uncompromising originality and is fraught with moodiness and musical genius. Show me among these ratings anything below 5 stars. Oh yeah--see what I mean? THE PEOPLE who came before you KNOW. So if you are one such as to be into The Kardashians....just...stop existing. But as I say...if you have even a 1/4 of a per cent of musical good taste, this is a MUST HAVE. Kardashian lovers, BE GONE.

Resonating chilling vocals and driving beat. I love this album. It reminds me of the loneliness of my youth. At the time, even on my pathetic stereo it sounded like a force of dark nature that eclipsed any other record of the early eighties.
  • Wow. Just wow.

I'm not going to even describe this album. Because, I don't need to. Just get it. You'll see what I mean.

Be so perfect? I will always come back to this. Always. That's not always a good thing.

The emotional and spiralling lyrics of Joy Division as well as their musical creativity never ceases to amaze me. In the months preceeding Ian's suicide, I feel as if he was truely dropping the weight of his troubles into his songwritting. Many superficial teens my age will probably hear one song by Joy Division, grimace and say "This is weird and dumb." and then go listen to their "really, like, deep-thinking" Nicki Minaj, or something. Just the thought makes me sick. The depth of Curtis' lyrics is so heavy, I begin to feel like him when listening to songs such as " The Eternal" "Dead Souls" and "I Remember Nothing" Ian Curtis prooved that you don't have to sing like Whitney Houston to make something worth hearing. As an aspiring musician, they are all very influential to my lyric writting and music. One of the best. R.I.P. Ian Curtis.

Curtis's voice is filled with evil despair, the sort you find only in the throats of those who have lost. Whether it was love, loved ones, friends, family, or all of the above, Curtis clearly was dealing with emotional trauma. The band thrives off it though, with stunning walls of guitar fading to minimalistic bass repetitions and steady, often airy without being synthy, hard core drumming. I only recently discovered the wonder of Joy Division, and 'Closer' is their masterpiece, undoubtedly. Buy this now if you like good music, or if you're just tired of the same old crap day in day out.
  • Masterpiece

I love this album. I have to admit that I became a joy division fan when the movie 'Control' came out. Although I heard "transmission" and "dead souls" before. Anyways this album is a masterpiece....it is though very depressing and also beautiful at the same time. There are not a lot of albums that I can think of that are both. They are either depressing or too depressing. But I would highly recommend this album. It's something that needs to be heard!!! So stop what your doing and LISTEN for just a moment and you'll be moved. there's a pain in ian's voice that's very real and haunting. Well my favorite songs are"decades" and "the eternal" though all of them are very good. Listen to this album from start to finish you will not be dissapointed. This my first review so don't judge lol.

This album is one of the greatest of all time. Without this album U2 would have been a Beatles cover group. However, this album is argubaly the most de-pressing album of all time. It takes another kind of listener to understand or to stomache it. Best Song: Eternal.

From the opening tribal drumbeat of "Atrocity Exhibition" to the fading distant end of "Decades", this album is an absolute classic. No band will ever come close to making an album with this much heartfelt agony and torture. My favorite is "Twenty Four Hours". The song rides a wave of swells and lulls. Turn it all the way up in your headphones.
