Basically, I copped this when it come out when I was in high school and only felt a few songs. This was great to revisit. Listening to this album now, I feel the same way as listened to ghost's bullet proof wallets out from the vault: before it's time
A funny story

Back in the days I used to subscribe "Source" mag. I was upset on the people that work there gave this a 2 & a half mics. But I'm glad that the comments below are truly sincere about their reviews. I consider this a sleeper hit in the year 2000.

Del is a one-of-a-kind rapper, a true hip-hop artist who's voice is unmistakeable. Hes creative, original, funny, and can spit lyrics better than the no talent ring-tone rappers you hear on the radio. I don't listen to rap on the radio or MTV, instead I search out the good underground beats that are representative of what true hip hop is. And Del is a perfect example of what a hip hop artist should be, this album displays his skills in full force. It's obvious why he's sought after on other projects, Handsome boy modeling school, Gorillaz, etc..

This is a great cd for anyone into hip-hop, but doesn't want to hear the tedious, lame, predictable, incessant "I'm rich, you're not, I'm hard, you're a chump" music that's popular these days on the sheep radio. Del is a thinker, a great rhyme master, and runs the lyrics from making fun of dirty people, to video games. Some call him a "nerd-core" rapper, and that's fine. He's still a lot better than 99.9% of the "successful" rappers out there.

Del is the most underrated rapper. He is both hilarious and witty. I'll take him over all the overhyped, phony commercial rappers anyday!

With a depth of vocabulary, and ability to spit non-stop multi syllable rhymes, Del proves why he is one of the best lyricists of all time. His rapid fire lyrics set ablaze the sometimes sparse instrumentals on this album. With westcoast style, humor, and thoughtful interjections of social commentary, Del puts his hip-hop genius to work on Both Sides of the Brain.
Excellent.

Buy this album. It's good... wicked good.
And for those who may remember, "If you must" was in the original "Tony Hawk Pro Skater." Brings back memories.

I'm real happy to see that everyone appreciates how ILL this album is. I've had this since it came out and it's amazingly entertaining. Del will keep you entertained all day. And the beats?? The beats are all good and very well produced. And on top of that, Del did most of them himself!! Come on people, this man is a genius and this album is a definite must have. For anyone who likes Del, you better check Hieroglyphics first album, "3rd Eye Vision", which is Del's whole crew. That album is a total classic!!!
love it

I have owned this album since it came out. This and Reflection Eternal are responsible for my present taste in music. Words can't even begin to justify just how nice this album really is.
