I've always been a fan of Carole's music and this song is a perfect example why. Simply wonderful. Thank you, Carole!
Simplistic harmonic progression

I adore Carole King. I've seen her in concert either alone or with James Taylor nearly a dozen times over the years, and loved every show.
That said, this song, "I Believe in Loving You," simply doesn't measure up to Carole's best-known and best-loved material. The melody and underlying harmonic progression are simplistic in their design and do not travel to anyplace unexpected. It's the sort of meandering melody one would expect from Carole at age 16, not at age 71. Listen to the bridge in "You've Got a Friend" and the temporary key change is wonderfully shattering. That's missing from this effort.
My disappointment with this song aside, the previous statement stands: I adore Carole King. Next time she's playing in my town, I'll be there.
Genuine warmth from one of the greats.

I too have loved Carole and her music since a teenager in the 70's. I confess that I wanted to marry her. My Dad saw the Tapestry cover and said her feet were big. A fist fight almost ensued. From Writer to this new single, she has captivated me on stage, vinyl, and now in the clouds. Saw her several days ago on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where she performed during the induction of long time producer Lou Adler. We have a friend in her, and dear Carole, "You've Got A Friend." Sincere thanks!

"Another Golden Gem"

From a fan who has followed Carole King since my childhood, beginning @ age 13 to now (56), her music spans the generations. Each song she has has written, including many written with her wonderful co-hort James Taylor, are all "Best of the Best"! They have never aged, just continue to remain timeless, like the finest wine!
This new song is another gem to her catalog! Enduring, & as you listen, could be applied to anyone you love or once loved. "Bravo", again Ms. King for gracing your fans with another gentle, sweet, song. Buy this one, everyone, you won't be disappointed!!!
P.S.- We saw James Taylor & Carole King on their last "Troubadour Tour" Live. Catch them next time they come to your town. Amazing!!!!! :0)
