    We know that Brahms obsessed over his counterpoint, and The Sixteen deliver a performance of incredible clarity and near-perfect intonation that does justice to the purity of conception Brahms brought to this masterpiece. Of course, one does not get all the colors of Brahms’ orchestral writing because the recording is with piano accompaniment. However, this is a fascinating alternative to the many recordings where the orchestra overpowers the delicate wash of vocal sound Brahms constructed.
