  • Delightfully horrifying

This album is huge, and defiantly not for everyone. Clocking out at nearly two hours long, with slow drawn out songs that progress wonderfully if you are willing to give it a listen with an open mind. But seriously, Sunn 0))) should be featuring their music in horror movies. Candlegoat, for example, makes me feel like I'm trapped in a cave 200 miles below the the surface, with a very dim light slowly fading into nothingness.
  • So eerie

Was playing Witcher 3 earlier, and I thought walking through a foggy swamp in the middle of the night in that game was eerie, but man, this band is spooky. I love it

Sunn O))) is definitely the best band for this genre of music, and this is their best album.

Every second that passes I feel my soul draining away. This is the sound of death, despair, and the darkest nightmares and fears that plague man. After all is gone, humanity and life itself long forgotten in a fading universe populated only by dying stars, any who would be alive would have this album on their minds.

If you were high as a kite and put a seashell up to your ear....this is what you'd hear.

Turn up the bass settings on your device and crank up the noise. That is the only proper way to enjoy these massive riffs. Track 2 will tell you why.

i first read about this band while on wikipedia looking up other doom metal bands. i never heard a song before i bought and was really suprised by how cool it was. they are very influental on me, now i am in a drone metal band (black beings). "it took the night to believe" is really good. i would suggest buying.
  • Delightfully Terrifying

This is a really heavy, really slow album that requires a great deal of patience to get through, and most people would probably hate it. Vocals are rather few and far between, and it is hard not to let your mind wander during the vast, eerie sea of sound. That being said, there is a feeling of awe surrounding such epics as Cursed Realms (Of the Winterdemons) and Bathory Erzebet that should not be ignored. And CandleGoat is one of the greatest song names EVER. Is it named after the Albanian siege in the mid-1400's during which the Albanian leader released a herd of goats with candles on their heads into the assembled Ottoman attackers, the distraction that one the war? If so, my respect for this band continues to increase.
  • Dark, terrifying. Not for the faint of heart.

This album is completely off the wall, even by Sunn 0))) standards. Furthermore, it's one of the only albums I've ever heard that I'd classify as genuinely creepy. The regular buzzing drone/ambient sounds of Sunn 0))) is here, but they branch out, with subtle electronic textures (often many layers of such playing at the same time) and shrieking vocals reminiscent of black metal. The album seems like a journey of types, from the (relatively) normal "It Took the Night to Believe," which focuses on a simple guitar riff, gradually becoming more abstract until the final track (which many people find genuinely scary). Sunn 0))) newcomers beware- if you're looking for something you could tap your toe to or headbang to, look elseware. If you're looking for memorable riffs, look elseware- you'll only find one on the entire album. And if you're looking for halloween party music, look elseware- this isn't music to tell ghost stories to, or to dress up in cute costumes to...but if you're looking for something unique, something abstract, and something with utter conviction in its malevolent noises, look no further.
