Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies is the best of Volbeat's seven albums. Room 24, Hangman's, and Doc Holliday push Volbeat's heaviness to new extremes. Most songs here have beautiful melodies and huge choruses without ever sacrificing the heaviness. As a proud Californian, I grew up with many of these stories, and I appreciate the County/Western edge present on many of the songs. If you're new to Volbeat, this is the place to start. One thing about the deluxe album is that the "harp" in Lola Montez Harp Version is actually a harmonica.
