Take 6 does it again and after all of these years, they’ve managed to live up to the standard they established. Great music. See them live if you ever get the opportunity.

Six phenomenal men using the vibrations of sound to prove, as a group, collectively they are a phenomenon. In short, if you understand the healing ability of tones and vibrations; if you enjoy dissecting vocal talents, skills and abilities; or even if you want to relax on a journey through an extraordinary listening experience that you can close your eyes to, relax or tap your foot to before you get up and dance, YOU MUST PURCHASE THIS ALBUM. No words. Just listen. (By the way, from Wikepedia: "A phenomenon ... from the verb phainein, to show, shine, appear, to be manifest or manifest itself, ... is any thing which manifests itself. Phenomena are often, but not always, understood as "things that appear" or "experiences" for a sentient being, or in principle may be so." Take 6 - Collectively - A Music Phenomenon) The title speaks for itself. Well done gentlemen. (Anyone who cannot feel the spiritual connectivity you six men must have to produce your sound, and then doesn't recognize your choice to share your God Given gifts and talents from within to go out into the world... well... forgive them. Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.)

As a die-hard Take 6 fan for two decades, I have followed this group from their very first release and purchased every one since (either as an LP, cassette, CD or MP3). I've even got a VHS tape (their first and only video compilation, I believe) and saw them once in concert (a truly transformative musical experience that had me singing and humming weeks after!). Musically, "Iconic" is everything Take 6 is known for: pitch-perfect a cappella arrangements, dynamic leads and mesmerizing harmonies. Still, I'm not totally thrilled (as I usually would be) because of their song choices. Yes, every song here is a memorable number from the Top 10 pop charts over several decades. And that's just it: they're POP songs about romantic love. I've nothing against a good pop song well performed. It's just that (for me, at least) Take 6 has always been a GOSPEL group with unusual contemporary vocal arrangements. It's what made them distinct and different from anybody else in the music industry. I've no doubt that each member is still a committed follower of Jesus Christ, but that's NOT evident (to me, any way) in this collection. And if ever there was a time when Christian artists needed to be clear about Who they serve, it's most definitely now!! Though I'll undoubtedly purchase "Iconic" at some point (because I'm STILL a die-hard Take 6 fan!), I doubt I'll give it nearly as many repeated playings as I have their previous works. Hopefully, on their next project, they will return to putting the GOSPEL message at the forefront of the majority of the songs as opposed to a single selection (and that at the very end here). Take 6, please don't compromise your spiritual integrity for commercial success (this release DID debut at the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart and is Take 6's FIRST recording to EVER do so). You're better than this!!!

it’s true, there are many amazing entertainers & dancers; BUT then there’s Michael Jackson. there are many great vocalist & vocal arrangers, BUT then.. there’s Take6!!! and this new album is in the ranks that most diehard Take6 acapella fans love. by all means it measures up to their early work like “SoMuch2Say”, “So Cool”, “Feels Good” and even the Debut. what i’m tryna say is you will not be disappointed. your ears WILL be amazed. you’ve been warned. these guys only get better with time. six👍’s up! -clifton davis

This is such a great album! Songs we know and can try to sing along with that have that crazy Take 6 harmony and blend... and masterful arrangements. Can’t ask for more! Mark Kibble is a genius and wow @ Dont Know Why! I mean, you can just hear his vocals so up-close and personal. Really well done. Dave Thomas’ arrangement and vocals really shine on Sailing. My top 4 favorites are G2G, RoofGarden, Nothin But the Blood, and Don’t Know Why! I highly recommend this CD. Get one for yourself and a few for your friends and family! They’ll love it, too! Great job, Take 6 and Sono!
