Despite the band undergoing major difficulties with certain members and their chaotic onstage antics, as well as losing a key member in the process, Depeche Mode was able to survive through the turmoil to make Ultra. The 4 years between Songs of Faith and Devotion and Ultra was riddled with strife, such as Dave Gahan OD’ing onstage, Martin Gore drunk on stage, and finally Alan Wilder jumping ship for good.
