I decided to listen to this while biking and it did not let me down. Listen to the whole CD while biking the towpath early in the morning with no one around. Inspiring, relaxing, and fell good music.
Roach is the man!

This album is very..... very.... deep. He had to be in another state of mind when he made these compositions. I love his work... But my complaint is with iTunes... come you guys fix the distortion! It's on every track. It's not my system which is THX certified!
Obviously his extensive multilayer tracks were too much for your ultra-compressed format. PLEASE FIX IT BECAUSE I DO WISH TO BUY IT! Thank you!
To a Chilled Place

In 2008 I was on the coast of Maine, and learned of a gruesome event that occurred in 1710. A ship, the Nottingham Galley, wrecked offshore on December 11. Fourteen men were stranded on tiny Boone Island for over three weeks without food or shelter, enduring sea and storm; only ten survived. During this period was probably the first account of anthropophagy in the new world. As I was reading about their story, I was listening to this album. The final piece, Altus, is to me the story of the relentless conditions they endured. It is chilling.
For the most part it was good

I liked Altus, Cloud of Knowing, Infinite Shore best, still a tad dark in places.
Simply...the void!!!!

Really good, really dark and really amazing. This keeps you pulled in throughout the disc but some way your able to relax and enjoy the deep sounds put into this fine piece of work!
As Good as the Genre Gets

This is not only Steve Roach's finest effort, it is simply the best space/ambient/new age recording ever. Anyone interested in starting a collection of this type of music should start here, and anyone who is well versed in the genre would do well to add this to your collection. You cannot do better.
One of Roach's Best!

Magnificent Void is among Steve Roach's best solo works. It's nearly impossible to describe the abject hugeness of the soundworlds he created for this release. By the time you've reached the end of "Altus", you're nearly in tears, especially once the music fades away. Absolutely astounding.
One of Roach's best and an all-time ambient great

The i-Tunes review is pretty much spot-on. This is some of the most articulate ambient music ever written. Roach just nails the subject matter. Particularly good are "Between the Gray and the Purple," which is reminiscient of Jerry Goldsmith's "Spock Walk" from his Star Trek score, and "Infinite Shore," which somehow finds the life-affirming in the emptiness of the Void. I highly recommend this. Not a single track disappoints.
