I've seen Junior play live at least 5 times now and he consistently gets standing ovations in places like the Mid-Atlantic states, and even though his show consists of only him, a snare drum kit and a bass player. It's some of the best, twangy, old-school country music and guitar playing you're ever going to hear. Junior's lyrics are insightful & funny, his baritone voice is perfect for his Ernest Tubb style, and he is absolutely amazing on his guit-steel!! Buy this album and go see him play live, too. You're in for a treat either way!! And if you like 1960s era surf music and Albert Collins/Stevie Ray Vaughn style blues, even better.

I think there IS a startling degree of variety! From country to hawaiian to surf to blues to rock and roll, Junior Brown is a genuine guitar legend. The guit-steel came to him in a dream, and his skill seems to have come from another world as well.
These are the master's greatest epics. Highway Patrol, My Wife Thinks Your Dead, Broke Down South of Dallas, I'm trying to avoid just copying the entire track list...
Listening to Ratatat and Simian Mobile Disco probably does not qualify me as your typical Country music fan, but I can appreciate amazing music despite the genre. Ladies and Gentelman, Junior Brown is amazing.

Junior Brown's music is the best kind of country: actual meaning to the lyrics, good voice, the best instruments and beyond amazing guitar skills. I have loved his music forever and was so inspired that i actually started to play acoustic guitar. He is incredible and deserves way more credit than he gets.

This is a great album to listen to while working around in the house, entertaining friends, taking a long drive...It also makes a great gift for anyone who appreciates good Texas flavored music with stories.
Brown's voice is so rich to listen to - very compelling- draws you in.

this album is what one would expect from a junior brown album. explosively original and enjoyable songs accompanyed with adeptly preformed acoustics which he played on both the steel and electic guitars. on a personal note I found his steel guitar riffs to be on par with some of the greatest steel guitar players in the world like tom morrel. keep it up junior i wanna hear more albums from you!!
