this is my favorite bobby mcferrin album-- his solo performances showcase his range as a musician and performer better than any collaboration (though 'play' is an amazing album as well). mcferrin is at his best when there is nothing between himself and the audience. this performance will open your mind to a whole new way of looking at music, if you let it.

at the complexity of this album. As a young college music student Bobby's song " I'm my own walkman" opened my ears to endless possibilities of improvisation. Thanks for releasing a digital version of this album. My vinyl has long since been played out.

This album was the spring board to the success of McFerrin's career. The live performance song Blackbird showcases McFerrin's vocal range and dexterity even to this day. Although not noted here, this album was McFerrin's first commerical success and was originially released in the early to mid '80's. It is the defining album of his early career which is defined by solo performances without overdubbing or accompaniment.
