I think that this is a dope azz concept. The artwork on the digital single all of that. Prince has some serious 12"inches and B-Sides. Everytime a Prince fan like myself learns about a release or an archive of his old stuff, we get cheated. This time they are the edits. I think that the average prince fan has been waiting 20+ years to get his rare and hard to get stuff. WB is hurting him and theirselves. The reason why MJ has become so ICONIC, is because he gave his music to DJs and made it available in various forms to his fans. Thats how u stay ICONIC. I guarentee that if WB & PRINCE would make his items including the 12 inch mixes available in on box set or a series. U couldn't keep it on the shelf. Do urself a favor. Put the BS aside and do what record labels are suppose to do. Give the public what they want and make your money.
  • This is what it sounds like when downloaders cry...

As others have mentioned, the sound quality is quite craptastic. ♥ or $ = :( on EyeToonz Fellow geezers (the over-30s), remember holding a cassette recorder up to a TV or radio to tape a song? That's what ""♥ or $" sounds like here. Prince devotees will know that this rare gem is a fun jam - bouncy and playful, not unlike his later "U Got The Look" - but iTunes has GOT to get a better version.
  • Great music, handled TERRIBLY

Prince rocks, he deserves full respect. But between WB and iTunes, this is so poorly handled that it just doesn't make any sense. So, who didn't already have Kiss? Seriously, Prince fan not already owning Kiss? So, this is worth it for Love or $. Well, no, not really. A - This is the short version, which kinda misses the point of the real work. B - You can get 24-bit direct from the original 12" 45 rpm single in perfect clarity via bit torrent ANY TIME. C - Even the album art looks like a scan from an old 12" single cover! So, this is a waste of time and space. Go find the REAL single and b-side of Kiss.

It's about time. After years of unavailability in digital format Love or Money is finally here. Hopefully this will not be the last one for "Alexa de Paris" and a plethora of 12" extended versions singles are still in need of the digital makeover. Here's to crossed fingers.
  • Money... Money Hungry!

Back in the early 80's - in Minneapolis, inspired by Prince's initial big Pop Rock Funk success of the 1999 album, there was a band named The Stylle Band. I found an early vinyl only 45, a very rare local release by chance from this band. Much to my surprise I couldnt help feeling that one of the songs had the same note motif or progression of "Love..or the money". That song on this rare 45 is titled Money Hungry. Its an energetic song of course not exactly like ♥ Or $ in terms of production, instrumentation or verse styling, but when the chorus hit on Money Hungry it was the same thing ..."Money...money hungry!" which sort of blew my mind. Same sort of idea too, Prince's songs questions his lover interested in his love or money. Anyway, just something of a seriously deep Prince fan factoid. But someone on here in their review said this is the first time this B-Side ♥ or $, was released digitally. Thats incorrect. In the early 90's Warner Bros/Paisley Park Records - The HIts, The B-Sides multi disc greatest hits collection there is one disc dedicated to almost, ALMOST, all his B-Sides in the 45 format. I will say that at least, this was the way you got the 45, an edited version of songs. You're just missing out on the rest of the artwork and label design and quality of vinyl copy. I hope all his singles are released as digital 45's. Seems like fun. If you get to hear Hot Thing and Hello as such, you might, if the new kids at Warners know what the heck they're doing (doubt it), you'll hear some differences not found on the regular albums or released on the B-Sides or 12 inch versions. Oh and Im giving it only 4 stars, because these songs are kick-butt Prince Funk but are lossy sub-standard sounding with probably no full artwork from the original 45.

How did this happen? Some should explain these things to us so we can get excited or otherwise at the potential of other stuff coming our way. I hadn't heard this song in 15 years! So happy now. There were other b-sides from this album that are needed. God bless this one.
  • thanks itunes!

I've had this on vinyl forever, but haven't been able to listen to it since I got rid of my turntable about 15 years ago. This certainly saves me the trouble of eventually converting it to an mp3. Now if only they could get 'Mountains/Alexa de Paris' on here...

I've been trying to find "Love or Money" on CD for years. Although this doesn't sound quite as good as an uncompressed CD would, it's great to finally have this in digital format. Rhino, PLEASE consider releasing this (and other titles in the digital 45 series) in Apple Lossless format!
