Gaps?

It’s a live show there shouldn’t be silent gaps between the songs, yet from Take Me With U through Possessed there’s a half second gap between the songs. Hopefully it’s just me, if not, it needs to be fixed.
That said, when I heard snippets of the remastered audio of this show on the Prince podcast, I said, “Okay, I need this”. Outside of the gaps, it sounds fantastic.
Re-review. Well done stereo, atmos not so much

Prince sang “everybody wants to sell what’s already been sold… all that glitters - ain’t gold.” And such it is with the Prince Estate. There is literally a treasure trove of unreleased material and live concerts available for release. (Can we get his final concert PLEEEEASE). Instead we get something we already have… again. That being said, I originally gave this a harsh review, but as it turns out what I was listening to was the Dolby Atmos version, which sounds weird and artificial. Deduct a star for that and for the almost bootlegy unnecessary redo of the artwork. The original stereo was just fine, we’ve all ripped it from VHS back in the day or the DVD that came with the Purple Rain re-issue. This version isn’t necessarily essential, but the stereo remaster is actually decent. Gives it a fuller sound stage and feels a bit more exciting. There are moments where it feels “enhanced” rather than “remastered,” but I just may grab this on vinyl now that I’ve compared. If you’ve actually never heard this or seen the film, then I guess it is essential for you!!! (But seriously, more of what we HAVEN’T heard would be nice! Vault vault vault….)
Typical Prince… but on Steriods!

I’ve had the old VHS and a CD of this concert for years… but the remastered version of this is SO GOOD! The funk, the rock, the soul… it’s all here! His guitar solo at the end of Purple Rain is well worth the price alone. If you’ve never heard it… it will give you goosebumps!
They ruined it!

I dont know who worked on the team who remastered the audio from this concert, but while some changes in audio levels reveal nuances that were not heard on the original release, most of the changes overpowers important elements of tracks that gave it them the character that Prince intended and we loved… for instance, in Baby I’m a Star, the horns are way to loud you can barely hear the drums and bass and at the solo in the end, Sheila’s timbale drowns out the Bass and other sounds. I can’t even listen to this album anymore. Why in the world would the previous version (2020 audio remaster) be replaced by this travesty! In my opinion the audio didn’t need to remastered. It was the video that needed treatment. Oh well, I’m glad that I still have the 2020 version saved.
Don’t buy it if you have the 2020 version

I’ve grown up on the original version of the vhs concert. Lost count of how many times I watched or copies I went through. What the estate has done to this version is beyond bad. They have inserted generic audience tracks that were not on the original tracks. Too many effects and some horrible mixing on some tracks. It sounds bad and not what Prince would have approved.
