A New Flame was Simply Red's 3rd album and while Hucknall's voice is still as bluesy as ever, the songs are more uptempo than their debut. Some standouts for me include "She'll Have to Go", "More" and "A New Flame" which have a funky backbeat combined with Mick's singing. "You've Got It" and the "If You Don't Know Me By Now" are slow burners which let Hucknall's blues singing do all the talking.

A New Flame is Simply Red's best and most soulful album. Every track here is worthy beyond belief. This is blue eyed soul at it's best

The "If you don't know me by now" remake was impressive, but what is equally, if not more impressive is the remake of the Barry White classic "It's only love". Not many singers can remake a Barry White tune and do it justice. Mick's version can easily stand side by side with the original. ...awesome.
