The original Mid/Air was a compelling release. Collisions proves to be equally engaging, and a refreshingly new take on pre-existing recordings. Highly recommended for current DI fans and new comers alike.

This is the kind of music to daydream to, get lost in the chaos, and dive into something succulently sweet. This is the highest quality of electronica that you'll find...The Album Leaf, Tunng, Beat Pharmacy...what else do you need to know?

This is a really awesome remix album that compliments the originals. There is a nice mix of up-beat and chill to listen to. The Album Leaf's remix of Sole Fisherman and the Tunng remix of Hoko Onchi stand out as my favorites. The Eno/Plumbline mix for For Centuries is a great way to end the album. Fans of Tiny Mile, Jason Bentley, AlphaMotive, Five Insects, and Beat Pharmacy will enjoy their contributions to this beautiful collection of mixes.

If you take your modernity clean, serene, and beautiful then you must devote 43 minutes and 23 seconds of your life to get lost in this collection. Smart money says it won't be the last time. The Tiny Mile Remix of 'Water In Our Hands' secretly raises the bar for ultra-hip lounge grooves by stopping nowhere short of perfection in it's production. If you're a fan of ear candy, treat yourself to a listen with headphones. You won't be sorry. The Tunng Remix of 'Hoko Onchi' is, quite simply, awesome. Leave it to these folktronica wizards to create a totally new soundscape which retains the character and beauty of the original song, but subtly harkens back to the stomping industrial marches of Nitzer Ebb circa "Showtime". If more albums were half as good as this we wouldn't constantly have our iPods set to shuffle.

New Dive Index remixes! This album clearly takes the term "remix" to funky new heights. Tunng remix is awesome, hard and edgey, so different form the orig. I love it! Similar vibe on the roughed up version of Come Tell Me. Many of the other songs are a more gentle remix of th e original songs. . .sole fisherman and roger eno, beautiful and erie. Jason Bentley grooves up a dance version of btwn sky and sea and the BEat Pharmacy picks up the pace with their remix of Screen to Screen. But, I must admit, I am so in love with Natalie Walkers voice that i could listen to the world is kind over and over again. This song is perfection! Must check out the video on youtube! Gorgeous! Mama likes!

How do you improve upon Stellar? "Collisions" provides a blueprint for that pursuit.  Cinematic, Compelling, Heartfelt, Melodic and eminently Listenable. Mid/Air (the original release) was all of these things. "Collisions" takes that collection one step further. Whereas most re-mix initiatives are deemed a success if each track is distilled to it's most salient detail and then looped ad nauseam over an Ibiza-worthy beat, "Collisions" takes a more thoughtful approach. We hear here not so much "re-mixes" as much as inventive re-tellings of Mid/Air's high points. This latest version of "The World is Kind" trades strings for chiming guitars in a way that may make Natalie Walker's vocals even more heavenly, if that's possible. Jason Bentley's club-friendly take on "Between Sky and Sea" also cradle's Walker's vocals with respect and care. However, the Pièce de résistance must certainly be the Roger Eno/Plumbline helmed "For Centuries" where Eno's piano questions how this work can be pigeonholed here as simply "electronic."   Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Wow.. The Album Leaf, Tunng, Jason Bentley... great remixes and all very different from the original versions. A little more uptempo and all are very solid. Nice variety of styles with a little house and a little downtempo - the Beat Pharm mix has a cool dub thing going. And the Roger Eno version is almost like a de-mix - more stripped and ambient than the original. REALLY worth checking out..........
  • a MUST hear record.....

The original Mid/Air record was (and is ) an amazing record - great songs, great vibe, great vocals, etc. This new remix record brings that original up to an even higher level - great tracks, soundscape, etc. This is a MUST hear.....Dive Index songs consistently get played on KCRW and on other radio stations across the country - no wonder! They know great music when they hear it......support great music!
