I tracked Dive Index down after hearing 'Between Sky and Sea' on KCRW, and am really glad I did. The entire album is an amazing mix of organic and electronic sounds-- it opens with a thrilling collision of a live drumkit played with brushes and precise digital editing. The 'casting' of the vocalists (Merz, Natalie Walker, Cat Martino, S. Shaw and -- so nice to hear his voice again! -- Ian Masters from 4AD's Pale Saints) couldn't be better, either... by the time I reached the soaring "The World Is Kind", I knew this album had made my Top Five of the year... very highly recommended.
Amazing!

This latest CD from Dive Index is one of the most beautiful albums I've heard so far this year! The vocals are incredible, especially from Natalie Walker on "Between Sky and Sea." And after a second listen, I can't get the string arrangements from "The World is Kind" out of my head. Worth ever penny to buy the whole album.
Incredible.

This CD is so magnificent that I purchased the hard copy. It's a great CD well worth 5 stars and well worth the full 10 dollars. It's very chill, and feels great going through you ears. You may also want to check out Lemongrass if your into this kind of music!

I can't get enough of Mid/Air. Natalie Walker, Merz, Cat Marino... the guest vocals are just one highlight of this beautiful album. The music and lyrics are at once soothing and suggestive. The songs capture real moments from our day-to-day lives, but they also challenge us to interpret those moments in different ways. This album surprises me every time I listen to it. Highly recommended.
Amazing work

This album is soulful and intelligent collaboration. The thoughtful phrasing, arrangements and emotional dynamics are Will Thomas trademarks. Great album.
So great! Love NW!

I have been a big fan of the work put out by Dive Index, but this new album excels to another level! Natalie Walker's beautiful voice works wonderfully with the sweet melodies and brilliantly arranged music. Ian Masters is on there too (I'm a huge Pale Saints fan!) with a eerily moody song about living in Osaka. And the track Sole FIsherman, with Merz, has a light but lonely quality and an engaging lyrical beauty. Most songs are about loss and beauty, but each in its own different way. Cat Martino has an amazingly soulful voice, paired with funky electro beats that meld perfectly together. The collaborations with the artist S. Shaw glow with reflective, emotional lyrics and delicate electronic beats. This is really in the true spirit of collaboration! An album worth exploring over and over. . .
Stellar..
