Old School at its finest. There is nothing like hearing multiple musicians playing instruments masterfully to create a sound that “stands “ the test of time.

Thew best Greatest Hits album ever. And it sounds thudnerous to boot. (At least on CD it does. Not sure about the more compressed versions.)

My father bought this exact album probably when he got out of the Navy in 1971. At some point in the '90s, he gave me all his records and this one stuck out as a summertime favorite. "Stand", "Fun", "Hot Fun in the Summertime", "Thank you Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again". In the mid-2000's, I was into transcribing all my favorite records to digital via the flattest, most faithful transfer methods I could afford. Because I used to always listen to the older records on a BSR changer, I made the transfer of this album via that turntable with a ceramic needle. Not sure about the curve on the pre-amp, but I think it was standard RIAA. Anyway, the turntable apparently ran a bit fast and the tone was off. I've heard of certain releases containing encoded quad and other technologies as well, so not sure if this was the issue. Upon downloading on iTunes, I'm really enjoying hearing these tracks as they were meant to be.

This is what you put on & set the player on either 'Repeat' or 'Random' (it don't matter) & you don't touch the music for the rest of the evening/night/morning. There are a handful of works which stimulate the mind, the body, & the soul & don't ever let up: This is One of them.

Sly and the Family Stone had the 1 as James Brown called it. He stole the show at Woodstock. He was the show when ever they got it together to play. Are there any better songs than I want to take you higher or Dance to the Music??? We waited for them to play one time at the Spectrum in Philly for 90 minutes. It was worth every minute. This album captures that magic. -- enjoy!!
