Lucinda is a wondrous songwriter and a marvelous inrterpreter of other peoples' tunes, so this is another excellent move for her since her stroke. Great versions of most of these songs, but possibly a bit too note-by-note on the McCartney numbers. Would have preferred two or three different choices here, but we're "blessed" to hear Lucinda's take on just about anything!
One of the best tribute albums I’ve heard

If you like Lucinda AND you like the Beatles, you’ll need a cold shower after you hear this. The person who said Lucinda Williams was being lazy…I feel sorry for you. You just don’t get it.

Contrary to some of the other reviews I really like this album. Kids today have no idea what great music is. Thank you for this wonderful album Lucinda!
BEST BEATLES COVER ALBUM EVER

It's hard to cover the Beatles a song at a time, never mind an entire album of them. Very few artists have equaled or surpased the originals-- Joe Cocker's version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" is one of the few covers that actually transcends the original.
Williams has somehow managed to make perhaps the best album of Beatles covers, ever. And, she does it by picking some hits, some obscure tracks, and treating the entire project like a live set played in front of a few hundred folks, at some imaginary, intimate club. Williams lets her band take over, and it gives the entire album a sense of coherency, urgency, and consistency. Williams is, at heart, a rocker, and she and her band approach most of these songs in that vein.
Highlights: "Don't Let Me Down," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "The Long And Winding Road," and "With A Little Help From My Friends"-- which she does in the same style as Joe Cocker's classic version. It's nearly as good!
Most artists covering the Beatles bend over backwards to duplicate the same arrangements and vibe as the originals. Why bother covering someone, if you're going to do that?
Williams, recording this album at Abbey Road Studios in THREE DAYS-- dares to make these songs her own. While showing complete respect to the originals, in so doing.
Excellent work

This should be the comeback of the year album, considering everything she’s overcome. And having the one and only Marc Ford on this makes a huge difference.
Cut her some slack

I saw her a few nights ago at the Jesse Malin benefit at the Beacon. She’s clearly still dealing with the affects of her stroke 4 years ago, but is brave enough to put herself out there.
Really

Hard to believe now, but Lucinda Williams was once a creative force.
Won't be long now and she'll be showing up as a judge on America's Got Talent.
Sad ending to what I thought was going to be an amazing career.
