Don’t get me wrong, Zac Brown Band is a great live band and can pull off a wide assortment of cover versions that sound just great. I am just baffled as to why such an established artist would suddenly release a full album of covers at the height of his career and outside of his genre. We all know Zack and the band can play rock ‘n’ roll, but at heart they are a country band. My fear would be this will alienate his true fans, but not really bring in any new ones. A few of these versions are excellent but I would rather have a full live album of Zack's original tunes with a few covers sprinkled in. Perhaps Vol 2 , and maybe a Vol 3 (?), will be all of their original stuff making for a full live Zac Brown Band experience.

One of my all time favorite bands. I have heard several of these songs live and they kill it every single time. They are artistic geniuses. They could play and sing the phone book. Love me some ZBB.

Zac Brown Band is not some hokey country group spouting inane lyrics; they are superlative musicians who can play anything. This album proves it. Yes, they paly country but they go far beyond that genre. Not only is this album a testament to their incredible versatility and tase, but it shows that they are one of the greatest rock bands alive. I've only heard (and seen) one other group who can cover any song of any genre like they can - Gov't Mule. Zac and his cohors have perfected music from Gershwin to Metallica with a bit of Alabama thrown in. I saw them this summer and can say unequivaocally that their tribute to Robbie Robertson (The Weight) followed shortly afterwayd by LAYLA proves they are beyond amazing. This new album is a testament to that.

I was just commenting a couple of days ago that the Zac Brown Band needs to do a covers album and here it is. I look forward to hearing their versions.
