"HEART STATION"-Ronnie Laws

By TFOCUS
This effort by Ronnie Laws is a step down from his usual innovative approach or style. Technically the production is weak except for possibly two songs, the title tune and 'Song for Hiram' are decent. Assuming you are a true fan of his earlier recordings, this collection isn't cohesive and lacks that spark that was present in "Pressure Sensitive" or "Every Generation". The musicians here are top notch but their output is missing the mark. Lead vocals are absent also. The cut 'Imo' is interesting with its new age flavor but it can't save the album. All in all, a good remastering may help. TFOCUS
