A masterpiece...Rich in every sense and there is not even one song to be ignored on it.
This YOTC LP is still one of my all time favorites since it came out.

When I first heard the Year of the Cat album playing was at a party of couples all sitting around making out. It was great MOOD music then and still is today. A great listening album, especially with lights turned down and a favorite gal under your arm.
Bloody Incredible writing and songs

Alan Parsons produced. Al's lyrics are stunning. This is a top ten desert island album for me.

YOTC purrs today just as pretty as it did forty years ago... if cats have seven lifes, Year of the Cat will live on beyond infinity.... Easy on the ears, good for the heart, classic rock pop at it's bets. On the Border & the smash hit Year of the Cat are the favorites here. But Lord Grenville & all ther rest are fanatstci too. Love the updated sound in this 2001 remaster release. Meow!

The Year of the Cat drew me into Al Stewart at 9 years old and I'm still a fan today!
Great album -- but better on CD!

If you buy the special edition CD version there's a 10-minute bonus track whereby Mr Stewart explains the meanings behind each and every song, well worth the extra bob.
Great guitarist

If you like the nylon string guitar riffs in On the Border, check out Peter White. His jazz LPs are excellent. Sample the song Bueno Funk and see what you think.
A masterpiece of 70's progressive pop

I'll admit I rarely ventured past the hits ("On the Border" and "Year of the Cat") when this came out. Listening now, I find it an excellent synthesis of Alan Parson's rich production with Stewart's urbane lyrics and stylish vocals.
