A spectacular mix of Southern stew.

From it's opening moments to the last track, Jimbo's Mathus's lastest release, "Incinerator", delivers a true southern storytelling experience with a visceral punch that is on one hand foot tappin', and the other, emotionally wrenching. Really Hurt Someone, is heartachingly beautiful. "Give Me The Roses", makes me feel like I'm sitting on the front steps of a down south country store. "Sunken Road" harks to the inner angst and honesty of a Lucinda Williams track. This album is gritty, literate, fun, authentic, and is supported by Mathus's world weary voice and the fabulous musicianship of his band. This hand hewn piece of southern musical art is a fascinating glimpse into the earthy life experiences of this truly great southern artist and musical historian.
