A maturing artist

As a singer myself I can tell you that Loreena McKennitt's voice isn't what it used to be--her low register and high register are fine but the middle where they meet is difficult for her, especially the transition between the two. I noticed it on her last album as well. However, the songs in this album are so lovely, particularly the title track, that it has become one of my favorite McKennitt albums. The songwriting seems less inspired by folk music and world music and is now more personal. Everything is warm and peaceful, but always tinged with melancholy and sorrow. Deeply touching.
Beautiful, Unhurried and Captivating.....

These tracks are so worth the long wait. I hope the next album will make it to us sooner with just as much magic.
Voice still as good as it was in the 90’s

I am a big game thrones fan and listen to original scores from the show a lot. The Composers style reminds me a lot of Loreena’s music. I searched her on Apple Music to listen to some of her old stuff and was excited to find that she had this new album. In her 60s she still sounds absolutely amazing, I was pleased and surprised to hear that. I hope she does a US tour including of course St. Louis Missouri I have never seen her live and that would be incredible. Ages past, age hence.... Great album!

I love Loreena's music and admire her work and have eagerly awaited this album. The 9 songs last only 48 minutes. Nicely recorded but not much new.
Heartfelt and Moving

It's been 12 years since Loreena has released an original album. This album is both heartfelt and moving. While not as capitvating as her albums in the '90's, Lost Souls still captures my heart. While similar in ebb and flow as well as sound to her earlier works in the 80's, it holds a fresh and more experienced sound. Stand out tracks to me are, "Ages Past, Ages Hence", "The Ballad Of the Fox Hunter", "Manx Ayre", and especially the title track. Very moving. Thank you Loreena for blessing us with your beautiful heart.

Loreena has done it again. We have loved her music for many years and had the privilege of seeing her live at the Keswick Theatre near our home. This album is another masterwork, and grows more beautiful and meaningful with each listening.
Thank you Loreena for bring us your art and soul!
Past her prime musically

When she began putting out albums they weren’t that great and as she progressed she got so good that her best albums were back to back successes. For instance the visit, mystic, the book of secrets, ancient muse, her Christmas albums were nothing short of exquisite music but after she got into a really bad fight with her traveling companion, her music went sideways. I no longer respect her as a musician because of the rage she poured out on a couple of people that worked for her.
Her best album yet?

Loreena hits it out the park every time. I have never come across a Loreena album that doesn't sweep me away to distant realms I never knew I needed to explore before.
