I feel like I'm listening to "Distort Yourself" Institute's debut/sole album and the "The Sea of Memories" birth child. I’ve personally have been thriving for Gavin to hit his roots and pump out the sound that made me fall in love with music itself, yet I’m afraid it’ll never happen without Nigel… It’s quite obvious Nigel’s input was advantageous.

Real progressive 21st century rock music exactly how you'd expect music to sound in the future (and now). Gavin Rossdale does it again with his lyrics, unique vocals, and fine song writing. The songs here are harder, less poppy than earlier Bush releases. The songwriting is perhaps more complex than ever before. Broken in Paradise is one of my favorite tracks; I'd recommend getting the deluxe edition though because the three songs on it are worth it. Surrender, Eye of the Storm, The Gift, The Only Way Out, and Man on the Run are all great melodic songs. I should note that this is really 2/4 of the original band you remember from the 90s-- with a different guitarist and bass player. But don't let that stop you-- this new album is something new and the guitar work is innovative. The guitarist Chris Traynor was also on the last Bush album Sea of Memories (2011) and was also on the really special Institute album (2005), which is perhaps Gavin's finest album yet. Corey Britz has taken over on the bass on the last two albums too. The original drummer Robin Goodridge is still at on this one.

This is a great Bush album! Though I may be bias, the previous release was hard to even get through, this is the Bush I want to listen from start to finish.
  • Slightly heavier. Great album.

Bush will not go back to their original sound. Musicians evolve, grow. Band members change. The style of pop music is different (not better in my opinion) today than 20 yrs ago. That being said, I love this album. I really enjoyed a few songs off of SOM but as a whole this album is stronger. To me the quality of the songs here is stronger. It is slightly heavier and darker than the last album too which I enjoy. "Sins", "man on the run", "loneliness is a killer", "house on fire", "gift" are great classic aggressive Bush songs. The slower songs are just as powerful on this album too. "Surrender" is possibly one of my favorite songs by the band in a long time. If you have enjoyed most of Bush's catalog of music since Golden State and the Institute you will enjoy this album and I highly recommend it. If you only love Sixteen Stone I'm sorry the band is creating new music and I am alright with that. I am just glad that the band is putting out great new music 20 years later. I can't wait till the next album. I hope the next one is a angry/heavy/breakup album. Just saying.

Bushes music is amazing. This album shows he evolves in life so does his music instead of not writing about anything. Best grunge/rock band ever.

I was a little worried about this album because their comeback album Sea of Memories was a big disappointment to me (with the exception of the single "The Sound of Winter"). However, once I heard the songs "Loneliness Is A Killer" and "Man On The Run" I knew it was going to be a much better album. I was right. The songs brought back the true rock sound of Bush that was missing from Sea of Memories. Stand out tracks: "Just Like My Other Sins", "Man On The Run", "Loneliness Is A Killer", "Bodies In Motion", and "Surrender"
