Love and Loss and Stuff Like That

Here is an eclectic collection of original music from a talented singer/songwriter. Elizabeth Butler is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and has lived in Texas for the past twenty years. She is an accomplished guitar player, composer and singer who has been playing with a variety of groups and duos for more than twenty years. Her recent album "Love & Loss & Stuff Like That", is her first solo album. Ms. Butler calls her style a "smooth gumbo of sound” and you can hear country, pop, jazz, and blues flavors in this fine collection of songs. She also finely incorporates a host of guest artists in this wonderful gumbo. One of my favorite tracks on the album is "Love Over Logic" which features Elizabeth's sultry vocals atop her balanced and engaging guests. With the sounds of a pedal steel guitar ringing in the background, and a gentle banjo keeping pace, it all comes together in memorable music that you can listen to again and again.

First off, you have to love this title ! ' Love and Loss and Stuff Like That .' If you are alive, you will surely experience love, loss and all that this entails. Elizabeth Butler writes and sings with such masterful beauty and insight. She has done something quite wonderful here by making an album about loss and heartbreak that is actually uplifting on a beautiful cathartic way ! It's hard to pick a favorite from the 12 great tracks which include 2 lovely alternate and instrumental mixes, but ' Summer and Fall ' moved me to tears and ' Walk On ' is a break up Anthem ! The final track, a lighter version of ' Time Before Time After ' is completely gorgeous and belongs in a great movie ! ! ! Elizabeth Butler makes the most exquisite lemonade and she is an inspiration to us all ! Bravo !

I was so happy to receive a copy of Love Loss and Stuff like that from the talented Elizabeth Butler. I LOVE her voice which kind of reminds me of Amy Ray (of the Indigo Girls)- strong and velvety! Her songwriting is very strong and the content, while sad and from the heart, was uplifting and lovely all at the same time. Come Back to Me... was so touching and my favorite tune. You will love this album!
