WHAT is wrong with your voice MIDGE?????? Way to high….and lacking emotion. I know we are all getting older, but really….I know you can do better than this. I am a long time listener and fan of Midge Ure/Ultravox..but this and their (Ultravox) last album were just sad. Music is fine, singing is not. Let It Rise on this album sounds like your bored singing it…while Let It Rise on the Schiller album is amazing…AND has your voice sounding like what we love about your music. Note to Midge…put your music on and listen to your voice on "Dear God", "Call of the Wild" and "Lament"…..these are what made you famous…Please bring it back!

Midge Ure is back with an album that gets better with each listen. I’m a long-time Ure/Ultravox fan and was admittedly a bit disappointed after my first run through. While the music is very good, his vocals seem too restrained on some of these songs, as I’m partial to the Midge that “belts it out” which he is quite capable of. The first track, I Survived is a perfect example of this. However, I find myself humming this tune quite often. His vocals relax and improve as the album continues and Become, Dark, Dark Night, Let It Rise and Star Crossed are true Midge classics. Wire and Wood is arguably one of the best instrumentals he has produced. Beautiful! Ure fans will like this new album, possibly learn to love it, despite the restrained vocals and mostly slower tempo songs. Be patient, give it a chance and you’ll find yourself listening to it over and over again.
