This track is absolutely inspiring, with a great gospel vibe....!!:-D

I have always enjoyed Heather Small's throaty and sultry delivery of a song. Most will remember her from her heydays as the lead singer for M People, of the "Movin On Up" fame...but it is always nice to see that Heather Small stands on her own as a solo performer. This song is still as uplifting as when it was released. When it was showcased in the Queer As Folk- Final Season soundtrack as the Illicit Mix, it enjoyed an immense and empowering rebirth for the GLBT community. The message is HUGE! It is wonderful that a person such as Oprah places this song as a showcase for her 20th Anniversary. I can not think of a human being who has unselfishly used her success and good fortune to help humankind...who spiritually LIVES the message of this song. "What have you done today, to make you feel proud?"

This song is nice and I like the message...a bit too obvious and saccharine for my taste. However, as my sister and I watched the Oprah that Heather Small's song was showcased, we could not help but laugh, as "Proud" has been Health Partners theme song in Minnesota for the past 5 years. to us,it was kind of a commercial song, and we found it funny that Oprah was putting it out there. Anyways, my sis and I always figured it was a lost second single by Billie Myers, that woman who sang "Kiss The Rain" back in '97. The androgynous voice is a trademark of both

Heather has nothing special about her voice...her voice is too throaty. Her song is uplifting but there are a lot of other uplifting songs that sound nicer and the person singing them actually have a much nicer voice...i don't understand what is so special about this song...

So who is "Deval"? It won't be long before you all know. He is soon to become the greatest governor Massachusetts has ever had and "Proud" is his campaign's theme song. It is the song that inspires thousands of his grassroot volunteers. Many of us wake each morning to watch his "Meet Deval Patrick" video and listen to the background music. Heather Small's "Proud" will carry him to a LANDSLIDE victory the likes of which no state has ever seen before. Today he leads in the polls by 25 points. In November, his volunteers will do all in our power to make that a 30 point victory. I find the origins of this song particulary à propos for this campaign because Deval is unapologetic in his support of equal rights for all including marriage rights. Watch out America. Deval is coming and politics will never again be the same. We will begin to talk about, not what separates us, but what unites us.

Heather Small appeared on Oprah where she sang the song "Proud". Such a wonderful, uplifting song. What a fabulous new theme song for Oprah! Was only going to buy that single, but the whole album was so great decided to buy the whole thing! Enjoy this wonderful artist.
