Having grown up on the B-52's I like to have a good time. You know, sing and dance and it's ok to let loose. That being said, if you like to let loose and have good clean dancing fun then you'll love this. However, if you're a suite and afraid of looking dorky then this probably isn't for you.

The year was 1984. Fred Schneider opted to go out and create a band called 'The Shake Society'. Apart from his, yes, wonderful voice, there is no similarity between The Shake Society and the B-52s. Your mileage may vary, but it is something of a fun album, whose musical style makes me wish they produced a second album. As for the lyrics, they're weird. You had your warning. :)
Actually, I've found all songs to be listenable. Though "Summer in Hell" is a bit too outre for my tastes. Otherwise, it's quite good an album. (Of course, I'm a slave to new wave, YMMV...)
"I'm Gonna Haunt You" has some great lyrics and background singers, not to mention the kitschy mid-80s synth.
"Wave" is a fun party song.
And who can't like "Monster", where Fred sings about, um, himself... he piqued my interest, that's for sure. :)
And "It's Time to Kiss" also has a great mix of music and vocals - even if the lyrics are straightforward, but even then it's tame compared to half the songs put out in 1969...

Fred Schneider is definitely one of a kind. He’s certainly not a rapper, but he doesn’t quite sing, either. While stellar as a part of the B-52’s, Schneider’s first solo effort goes a long way towards explaining why he needs his bandmates.
The B-52’s have always been preoccupied with dancing, outer space, and sex. “Fred Schneider” departs not at all from that formula, putting forth a few strong tracks in the form of “Monster,” “Summer In Hell,” and “Boonga.” The remainder of the tracks range from filler to forgettable, but the same could be said for a few B-52’s albums, as well.
Bottom line: if you’re a die-hard B-52’s fan, you won’t be disappointed. Beyond that, you’d probably do better purchasing a track at a time.
