Long considered one of the greatest big bands of it's time, this album ranks as one of the finest in the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis catalog. Recorded in 1969 this one was a favorite of mine and so many others. The band was famous for its spectacular arrangements and incredible lineup of players. Even more rerkable is that this album and this band created quite a stir in the days when big bands were considered a thing of the past! Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, Sir Roland Hanna, Richard Davis, Eddie Daniels, Snooky Young, Jimmy Knepper and Joe Farrell are just some of the notable musicians that make up this spectacular recording.
