John has always been a brilliant songwriter/musician/producer/multi instrumentalist, but "The Song in the Air" in my opinion is his best work yet. I have watched John work in the studio and he is a perfectionist because he considers music to be a precious gift and wants to do it justice. On this record, I feel like John let the recording process happen the same way as the songwriting process, naturally. The songs are from the heart, but not cheesy, optimistic, but not contrived. Best of all, they sound like John walked into the vocal booth with his heart fully exposed, unafraid to share himself with the listener. This is rare and what makes each song so special. Buy this album and watch as it quickly becomes one of your "go to" records on the days when you need to be lifted up or on the days when you are feeling great and want to hear music that fits the moment. Great job!
