Fresh interpretation of Ravel's Classics

Sarah Cahill brings a fresh and sensitive perspective to these two great piano works by Ravel. Gaspard and Miroirs have been recorded by many famous pianists, but an introspective and spontaneous feel makes this recording stand out. Personal favorites : Une Barque sur l'ocean and Le Gibet - awesome! If you like this recording, be sure to check out Sarah's recording of Ornstein : Fantasy and Metaphor
Better than all of the rest

These two suites are two suites of Ravel's most recorded works. Many of the greatest pianists (Pascal Roge, Martha Argerich, Jean-Yves Thibaudet...) have also recorded these works. However, Cahill's interpretation is very clearly the best. Her Miroirs are much cleaner and more interesting than any of the others and her Ondine is worth triple the total price of the album. The sound is sensational, the piano is very clear, and each note is like a bell. It is also available at a very decent price.
This is an OUTSTANDING recording

If you want a fantastic voyage back into the music that shaped the work of today's composers buy Sarah Cahill's Ravel album. Sarah plays this suite of pieces with a light and dream-like touch that really brings the music to life, and paints a mental image of water, nature and phantasmagorical forces at play. You will slip from this world with its harsh reality into a silky smooth landscape of desire- all the while visiting the origins of modern music. Bravo to New Albion Records for releasing this disc.
