I am a Joss Stone fan, but I have to say I'm worried about her voice. It's starting to sound really strained and tired. It makes it hard for me to truly enjoy this album......
Still Hasn't Found the Songs

In my view, Joss Stone is by the far the most talented singer, and has the most compelling voice of any of the recent British soul singers. Dave Stewart's production is perfect. Still, she needs some songs to showcase her range and power. Some of the them are good, but overall, the songwriting is nondescript. They just don't offer the phrasing or melodies to capture attention or arouse much emotion.
Expertly done!

While I've not heard 'Colour Me Free', I own and love her other three albums. This one does a great job of offering a more mature sound without straying too far from her bluesy roots. 'Introducing...' had a couple misses, but 'LP1' is all heart. Key tracks include the hope-filled yet somewhat plaintive 'Newborn', the soul-packed 'Drive All Night', and the chillin'-out charmer 'Cutting the Breeze'. Some of the other tracks take a couple of listens to grow on you (at least, they did for me) but on the whole this is an excellent listen, start to finish.

I dare to say that LP1 is the best work of Lady Joss. Is more "rocker" than others, the album have force and sensuality.
"grande" Joss.
