In The End is probably my favorite song on this album. 10/10
The INVADER! Remix of Sleepwalker (I think) is better than the original. (9/10)
Glass is almost perfect, though I can't seem to think of what's missing (9/10)
The others don't grab me as much as those do...
But really good album :D
The Anix is a great band.

This piece of work blew my mind. Originally i only heard one of the remixes but I think the originals wipe the board.

The Anix Hasn't put out anything interesting musically or too lyrically interesting since there first album. But this album sounds like they grew up and started actually writing some melodies and chorus pounding beats that easily is fun to get into with a hint of darkness to it which gives off I vibe that I love relating to I hope to meet them and play a show with them one day if they actually do tours that is instead of just playing LA all the time I wouldn't mind playing for them of writing for them. That's be rad

You know a band is magnificent when they make you, up your music standards. If only everything I consume could be as spectacular as SLEEPWALKER by THE ANIX. But that's why we have Dreams. May all your waking and sleeping dreams be filled with sweet ANIX tunes.
A dream so fantastic you'll never want to wake up!

The Anix's Brandon Smith described their new album "Sleepwalker" as having "traditional themes, but the stories are told while under the black cloud of insomnia, and often written with no memory of doing so the next day." That insomniac "headspace" is definitely evident to the listener while exploring the various twists in the dreamscape of the band's ambitious new release. You could almost say "Sleepwalker" is a concept album, but not in the usual sense where the songs are tied together by a lyric plotline or musical motifs. The songs are connected more by emotions and moods, and very different emotions and moods, but all with the undercurrent of that edgy, twitchy, blurry, mildly psychotic feeling that accompanies sleeplessness, isolation, confusion, introspection, and just the power of the night itself. "Sleepwalker" captures those fantasies we've all had of wanting to save the whole world or burn it to the ground (or at least certain people in it) or just revel in the experience while it all spins out of control.
But with some of the epic, extreme places the album goes in music and lyrics, it really is that focus on the individual that keeps the whole idea from getting pretentious or heavy-handed. "Take My Future" and "Endlessly" are massive, reeling, dramatic songs driven by vast, lush keyboards, but anyone who's ever been in love can personally relate to the fiery devotion and passion in the lyrics. On the opposite end of the spectrum are the atmospheric, visceral, sensual tracks "Sleepwalker", "In The Dark", and "The Passenger", which conjure images of wandering through the city at night in a semi-conscious state, hypnotized by lights, sounds, and the craving for a bit of self-destruction.
Anger, frustration, lust - they all show up on "Sleepwalker", but The Anix mix it up musically and package those emotions in different styles to keep the album fresh and interesting. "Glass", "Warning Signs", and "In The End" combine genres and unusual bits and pieces (with reflections of influences from Classic New Wave like Depeche Mode to the Modern Arena Rock of Muse) right within the songs themselves, and the blend is so seamless that you never really think about the constituent parts, just the highly enjoyable and thoroughly original final results. "Enemy Eyes" is a dirty, aggressive slightly "Metal" track, and "Resident One" and "Long Way Out" are easily some of the most addictive Electro-Pop songs you've heard in a long, long time! (They'll stick in your head for days, and you'll love it that they're there!) For as upbeat as any track gets, though, that shadow of darkness and bleary-eyed, lip-biting agitation is always, always there. Even the two covers the band chose, "Cry Little Sister" and "Burn" are from movies ("The Lost Boys" and "The Crow") with dark, outsider themes and appeal.
As a special bonus, The Anix also included a remix CD with this release. (This disc also contains the "Burn" cover.) Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of remixes, but there are some inventive re-interpretations here. Powerman 5000 deliver a crunchier, Industrial take on "Enemy Eyes", Invader! actually have a Dubstep hit on their hands with their version of "Sleepwalker", and well-known remixer Tommie Sunshine gives an interesting dance-floor twist to "Glass". With a full-length album, two covers, and several remixes, The Anix definitely give you value in song quantity along with excellence in song quality!
I think that was part of the attitude that guided The Anix through the creation of this release - a desire to give the audience something more than the usual. With "Sleepwalker", The Anix has created a well-produced, musically and conceptually cohesive collection of magnificent songs, but they've also given the listener that extra gift of a story. And it's a story that makes more stories, the ones you write in your own head. It's impossible to listen to "Sleepwalker" without your own dreams, visions, and memories coming to mind. So when you're exhausted tonight and want to hit the bed, maybe you should hit the streets instead. Get The Anix in your ears and do a little "Sleepwalking" of your own...
Lived up to all of my expectations!

My friend CJ (his review is listed below) introduced The Anix to me last year with "Half The World Away" and I was instantly enchanted. We both share a deep appreciation for the synthrock genre so he is always sharing great music with me. So when I learned that "Sleepwalker" was set to be released I became immediately impatient. I wanted this album in my collection right then and there, and like so many others, I had to wait. Well the wait is finally over and I couldn't be happier. It is easily my favorite release of 2011 and I can't get enough. There are a couple of remixes that I'm not too thrilled over, but that is okay. With songs like "Take My Future", "Warning Signs", "Sleepwalker", "Enemy Eyes", "Glass" & "Endlessly" I can just look past the less than favorable tracks. I wish others knew about this phenominal three man band. They deserve far more attention than they have received, but I also love the fact that I have this wonderful little secret that I can share with others. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe "Sleepwalker"!
I wanted to like it...

OK, I was so HYPED for this album it wasn't funny. It was talked up down left right and sideways prior to it's release. One reason is because I got wind of the Invader dubstep remix of Sleepwalker (which was AWESOME), and the other because I simply love Apop. Now, by no means am I music prude as my tastes are varied (if not neurotic), spanning classical, country, rap/hip hop, electronic, new age, rock, metal, etc. I'm not locked into genres, is what i'm getting at.
_WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT_
Every song seems so over-processed, -especially- around the vocal/chorus tracks. It's like, each song starts off sounding amazing, and then the chorus kicks in and there are a billion sounds and samples coming at you, none of which work together, and to the point where you can barely hear the vocals. I think the one song on the whole album that remotely caught my attention was the cover of Cry Little Sister, which has a warm place in my heart from The Lost Boys, but I think that is generally playing into that crowd too. In my opinion, save your cash for the remixes at the end, they're the only thing really worth anything off of this album.
Really guys, I really wanted to like it. sigh.

As a PhD bound Philosophy student I can say with confidence that Sleepwalker will be the soundtrack for many metaphysical and existential works to come. Especially Take My Future, Resident One, and Glass. Congratulations to The Anix. The work they have created is inspiring people in all different sorts of fields.

Imagine a dreamscape where you emerge blind...the air is electric and spiked with a "SINsation" of darklight. You can feel the energy on your skin...arousing and simultaneously giving you the coldest tempestuous burn! Your eyes are now compelled to open and to your AWE, you behold a world not unlike ours, but there is something unequivocally different. You can sense that you are about to be injected to a reverie that you've NEVER experienced before...enter THE ANIX -Sleepwalker...My senses are beyond awake and My auditory nerves are submerged in the this masterpiece as I let it take me. This album has far exceeded my expectations, and I am enamoured with it! THE ANIX has done it! SLEEPWALKER is work of genius! To attempt to describe this masterpiece is impossible. The most brilliant concept, unbridled passion, a sub-electronic core, intelligent lyrical content, heavy riffs, base lines, bombastic percussion, genius programming, razor sharp production...I'm in love with SLEEPWALKER!! THE ANIX is going to rightfully take their place in the archives of modern music!! This Band...This Album...to deny yourselves of hearing this, is to lose a part of the magic that is the very essence of groundbreaking music!! -Cj
