Unified (feat. David Binney, Jeremy Pelt & Roy Hargrove)

The title track gives you a great feel for this album. It combines harmonies that are oh-so-sweet with flights of individual expression that occasionally get raucous but never lose touch with the underlying theme. My ear detects no half-hearted tracks on this album. Each has its own identity and is performed with authenticity, spririt, and joyful collaboration by Killian's great working band, enriched with guest appearances by Roy Hargrove, David Binney, and Jeremy Pelt. It all works beautifully. This is a really great album!

I was lucky enough to catch Jeremy Pelt play some in Norfolk and he is a firm testament to someone that believes in practicing your craft to keep your skill up. This sounds so much like the great and under appreciated albums from the cool jazz era that only the true jazz fans will look hard enough to find. Very cool sound!!
