    This is a great record. Recorded over three nights at the legendary Smalls Jazz Club, Iverson (founder of The Bad Plus) takes us through a set of be-bop classics and jazz standards. Sparkling drum work by legend Albert "Tootie" Heath and solid bass support by the excellent Ben Street. This is a joyful and enjoyable set of music full of the live energy that Smalls Jazz Club is known for. This recording may surprise Iverson fans who may only be familiar with him through his work with The Bad Plus. Here Iverson reveals himself to be a pianist of great reserve and taste. Deliberate and ecletic yet, none-the-less, full in the tradition. This is a brave project for him to create. Heath is a pleasure, a visit from another time. Please just listen to his ride cymbal if you have any question as to "what is jazz". If you want an interesting and enjoyable experience, buy this record. It's good for many listenings of constant rediscovery.
