not her best

there is a little too much of Derek's hand in this album. Personally, I most enjoy Red Balloon and Gravity Love. (Derek, lay off the echo and buy a red t-shirt, a polo, a button-up or something...it isn't a sin.)
If "Christian" music exists...

...it sounds an awful lot like this. These days, "worship music" usually means sterile, shallow, happy songs. This album sets the standard more where it should be: a glorious companionship of well-crafted melodies with substantive, Christ exalting lyrics (and all produced wonderfully by Derek Webb). In Feast or Fallow paints a fuller picture of true, biblical worship than much of the American Church today knows - worship that addresses real life, including pain and sorrow, rather than singing away our struggles as if they are not there, all against the backdrop of music that is of artistic merit. This album is a great tool to the Church and an enjoyable, satisfying record for individuals.
Wonderful collection of hymns!

I am a new listener to Sarah McCracken's music, but I think 'In feast Or Fallow' maybe the best album of 2010 to date. Lyrically solid. Following the lead of her husband, singer/songwriter, Derek Webb on his Stockholm Sydrome album; she incorporates techno-infused sounds giving this album a kalaidoscope of melodies for a wonderful listening experience. Highly recommended!!
Refreshment of Christ

This album is simply refreshing: to hear Christ-glorifying puts joy in my heart and theology in my head. Now of days, it is so hard to trust music sumply because they tote a "Christian" label, but this album can be trusted to put a spotlight on Jesus Christ our Lord. Being somewhat new in the faith, these songs center me on Christ and less on myself, which most other music does not do. You will not be disappointed with this album. It also goes great with Sandra McCracken's album The Builder and the Architect. They both have a soothing but edgy folk sound that is great for young and old who have not righteousness in themselves but in Christ.
Christ is my only comfort In Feast or Fallow!

McCracken, in collaboration with her producer and husband, Derek Webb, have done a great job of making a unified album built upon the title song In Feast or Fallow. The album tells a story like a good movie or book. That story reminds us that whatever life brings our way our only comfort in life or death is Christ. The album begins in prayer with Petition, centers on This is the Christ, and ends with Faith's Review and Expectation.
We've got enough modern worship that preaches man and not Christ. We need Christian musicians like Sandra McCracken who are committed to sharing these historic hymns in a fresh way. We need these hymns to teach theology, sing about the ups and the downs of life, and honor God alone.
This is a beautiful, must have, God-honoring, album. I look forward to hearing the hymns in our churches, small groups, and homes in years to come.
