to be honest this album took a little bit to grow on me. i was going to see This Town Needs Guns and saw they were playing with Native - who i'd heard of, but never listened to - and felt the need to give 'em a shot since i'd be seeing 'em live. at first, i wasn't sure about the screaming mixed w/ how laid back the music was, but i soon found myself listening to the CD straight through, instrumentals and all. it's quite rare i'll fully listen to a lot of instrumental tracks on some band's CDs as i always think they just put them in for filler, however, Native's "Wrestling Moves" blends all of this so well with the actual tracks. at the forefront, in my ears, is how freaking tight the drummer is. the guitars are EQ-ed pretty quiet, but it blends everything together real nicely and gives it that atmospheric/ambient feel to it (see tracks like "Marco Polo" or even some of the longer breaks in "Ponyboy"). the band blends together fantastically with both guitars tapping but never 'outdoing' one another; bass adding nicely to drums with an honorable mention to the fact that it's the singer (he's dead on live). Live show is freaking great. insane energy without feeling forced or "doing-it-for-some-sweet-pics", but everything stayed tight. nice dudes as well, the singer, of which, sporting a very handsome stache at the time i saw them. This is a whole CD listen-thru. Get it.

Native always puts out a high energy show. This cd, in my opinion, was the best and most anticipated of 2009.

If you like Billy Talent and the post-harcore/mathrock/progressive scene, then you should love this album. Sometimes, during the album, I really felt like I was listening to like The Samuel Jackson Five and These Arms Are Snakes. I can listen to the album straight through. Ponyboy, Legoland, Shirts and Skins, Backseat Crew, and Marco Polo are just epic. Stay gold Ponyboy, stay gold...
  • I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS CD FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
