This selection highlights the development of groups who can actually play their instruments. They don't rely on samples and other hip hop crutches to round out their sound. They stand up on stage and throw it down. This live album solidifies The New Mastersounds in my book as not just some jam band, but a musical force along the lines of Soulive and Lettuce. These bands might not get the props they deserve from the media, but they obviously love their craft and can deliver where it counts - live in front of folks who came to have a good time. I downloaded this CD before heading to the gym and Thermal Bad amped me up so much that I almost overdid it and had a heart attack. This was a $10 purchase which will pay dividends for some time to come.
